Custom Vans BMX

Bike

A custom Steel BMX, resprayed and fitted with complimentary colour, for that clean look.

Frame

Steel BMX with standard brakeless front fork.
This bike came to me sandblasted. In my home-shop spray-booth I primed, painted and lacquered this, in my favourite shade of purple.

Refurbishment

After repainting, I rebuilt the bike from the ground up, choosing new parts, to match and compliment the frame.

Rolling on refurbished wheels and new rubber. I am pleased how this has come together.

Story

This bike came to me along with the GT BMX, as a sandblasted frame and a series of components that needed some attention. I started focus on the frame, setting up a home work shop painting booth and prepping the frame for a complete respray. Paint is an interesting topic, a lot more complex than anyone will ever care to know, with the best thing I’ve learnt; preparation is key.

After spending time researching, I chose a grey primer, and fantastic purple and a clear lacquer. The frame was degreased and buffed up and over a series of warm days and several light and consistent coats. It’s about building the layers, not just laying it down. The second best thing I’ve learnt; Rattle cans warmed up in a jug of hot water give perfect even coverage.

It came out fantastic, I was pleased while it was hanging, once it had dried, i was blown away.

The bars got the same black spray treatment, then built up with the rest of the bike.
Black grips, a black rear brake, pulling black pads, from a black lever, while sat on a black saddle.
It needed a splash. Something subtle. This is where the yellow came in and I love it.

Description

The bike is in fantastic condition, looking clean and fresh after being painted.

It has been refurbished, repainted, cleaned and rebuilt from the frame up. Choosing a set of new components, the black and black really brings out the frame. Rolling on Vans tyres, perfect for street and ramp.

Rides smoothly over roads and shreds around a half-pipe.

This bike isn't for sale, but if you really like it, please feel free to reach out.
