The Adventure Coffee Kit
Making great coffee on the road is one of life’s most simple pleasures. This is my go everywhere, mountain side, adventure, bikepacking, camping, travel, coffee kit. A straightforward setup of: grind beans, add water, press, enjoy.
Beans
Personal preference for a 100% Italian roasted arabica, medium roasted, 4-6. Or whatever bag of local i can get my hands on! Portioned out into a trip’s worth of beans.
Titanium Utensils
Light, strong, shiny. Titanium is a great material and i like this Alpkit mug, usually found dangling from a pack.
Teamed with a generic titanium spork, for mixing, scooping and opening beer, an important task.
Hot Water
Fresh off the boil, 93° C, filtered water. Or whatever river splashing you can get hold of and heat up on your camp stove.

Aeropress
The Aeropress is a simple water chamber, plunger and filter that gives, fantastic results. Plastic, light, easy to clean, pack-able. All great features when you’re adventuring.
If you’ve not tried one, i’d certainly recommend as my favourite travel brewing method.
Grinder
The Porlex Mini is great, it consistently reviews well and a lot of coffee enthusiasts opt for this for it’s consistent and quality function.
I picked this one as it fit’s perfectly in the Aeropress plunger, and I like that.
Filters
I’ve never had a problem with the Aeropress filters and found the perfect baggie to keep them waterproof on the road. For ultimate re-usability, I opted for the metal filter and haven’t looked back. A touch worse to clear up, only suitable for the inverted method, but all round better than paper!
Method
Boil Water.
Grind 20g of coffee beans to medium fine.
Add beans, and water to inverted Aeropress.
Mix and wait for 5 mins.
Turn, press, enjoy.
